Greenspace Rangers of the Future

Ruthvenfield School Feb 16Recently I was asked to go along to a careers fair at Ruthvenfield Primary School near Perth. It was a great opportunity to speak to the children about working for Community Greenspace and Perth & Kinross Council. I also took along some of our leaflets and maps to encourage them to get outdoors. The children came round each stall holding clipboards with questions and spent 10 minutes with each of us finding out about our jobs. What a great idea – when I was their age I only knew about occupations such as the police, nursing and the fire service.

I was delighted to receive some thankyou letters from the children yesterday  – here are some quotes from the letters:

“you have encouraged me to be a Perth & Kinross ranger”

“I learned a lot in that ten minutes, including the basics of the job, the skills that you need to be very dedicated to the job you have”

“The information you gave us helped us get an understanding of Perth & Kinross Council and other jobs”

“you have helped me to get outdoors playing with my sister”

“I have learned loads of stuff I didn’t know before”

“I enjoyed speaking and learning about being a Park Ranger as I am sure others did as well”

“the information you gave us helped very much for our jobs in the future”
