November in the Coupar Angus Community Gardens

By Forward Coupar Angus

Sometimes we need a miracle…..  and sometimes just when we need one, a miracle happens……

After the vandalism in the Spring it felt like a huge challenge to recover the poly tunnel. We have had the roll of new plastic for some weeks and have been searching and seeking teams and help to come out and assist, when someone suggested we try the community payback service in Perth….. it was one of the BEST suggestions ever! (thanks John!!)

On a cold but sunny Saturday this month we had 12 strong, willing people come up and help us dig trenches, remove the old cover, re tape the joints and return on the next day to help put the new cover back on…. The groups that came were all so helpful, strong, willing and knowledgeable – they were our miracle!

We have also had a huge help and would like to thank Perthshire Timber Mills – who have again donated a large amount of wood to help us build beds.. thanks to the family in the town who donated about one and a half tons of fantastic leaf mould and lastly thanks to the best team of volunteers and community members who are part of the gardens, growing and groups here in Coupar!

This month our “Go Grow” sessions continue on Wednesday evenings in the town. Free training on organic gardening. Contact Sharon on 07833938536 if you want more information, we would love to see new faces!
