A visit from the Dirty Weekenders Conservation Group!

Eighteen students from Edinburgh University (the Dirty Weekenders) recently helped us tidy up the Loon Braes pond and surrounding area in Rattray, Blairgowrie. The group of keen volunteer’s ventured into the pond with waders and protective gauntlets to clear invasive weed and litter. The team also chopped up Trees on the island felled by Beavers and with the help of BRAN cleared some of the footpaths around the pond. (see slideshow below for more photos from the day)

The group visited the area for the weekend, staying near by in Cally Hall and working on both Saturday and Sunday. We would like to thank the community for all the support offered and the Loon Braes Parknership for providing lunch on both days.

The pond is looking much cleaner and weed free as a result of the handwork by the Dirty Weekenders.
