The Chartered Institute of Waste Management did not waste a day in Perth at the end of August and had a brilliant time! Starting at the North Inch golf course, they tried footgolf before being served delicious cakes and drinks by Beautiful Perth volunteers. The group then enjoyed a guided walk along the banks of the River Tay lead by Greenspace Ranger Joanna.
John Summers kindly joined the group to explain the history of Rodney Gardens and the Heather Collections which are maintained by a partnership between Perth and Kinross Council and 30 volunteers working weekly to maintain the beautiful plant life. Did you know there are 550 varieties of heathers to be found and over 16,000 plants?!
The group continued along the Tay from Riverside Park spotting ducks, gulls and swans on the river before arriving at Willowgate for well-earned lunch and an afternoon of activities including archery and kayaking.
