Working together in Guildtown Park

Community Greenspace recently supported Guildtown Community Association to work together with various community organisations to upgrade 400m of path around Guildtown Park. The project started after various requests for the circular path around the park to be upgraded and with the offer of volunteer support from the within the community, we were able to supply materials to make this happen.

In March 2018 young volunteers from the Princes Trust worked with Greenspace Ranger Alistair to move over 20 T of material to start the project. This involved training young people in footpath building techniques to complete part of the path. The following week with a small section left to finish an action day was held where keen volunteers from the village came along to help and with a lot of shovelling completed phase 1

To complete phase 2 the unpaid work team were called into action and provided over 210 voluntary hours. The group shovelled over 26t of material making the path accessible for locals and the primary school pupils who use the path for P.E lesions.
We work with many communities to maintain and improve local parks/openspaces. Please contact us at GreenspaceRangers@pkc.gov.uk should you wish to find out more.
