Community Willow Project- Larghan Park

Community Greenspace recently consulted on plans for works at the Willow coppice within Larghan Park. Working with Pride of Place Coupar Angus, various ideas were put forward on how to manage the Willow coppice which had become too large in recent years.

Over the next few weeks we will be running various volunteer sessions with local groups including Wisecraft Mental heath hub, Pride of place and Police Scotland Youth volunteers. The plan is to create a living willow play area, which includes a dome, tunnel and hurdle fencing.

The structure will be planted by volunteers using locally sourced Willow while learning new skills in coppicing. Over time the cut Willow and left trunks will re-grow to provide cover and greenery. Please contact ajmacleod@pkc.gov.uk should you require more info or wish to come along to any of the action days.
